How long will we work together? At Suncatcher Wellness, we value people’s time and money and understand that you might be wanting to move forward from the abuse. As such, we offer affordable and time-bound services. The goal is to work together, improve, build community, and move on. Coaching (individual or pair) runs for 12, 60 minute sessions which can occur on a weekly, biweekly, or monthly basis (your preference). Coaching clients are also provided four, post-coaching “check-in” sessions within one year of completing coaching. Support group series run for 10 consecutive weeks with one 90 minute group session per week. At the end of the 10 week cycle, the group may decide to continue meeting without the facilitator using the recommended community guidelines. All service plans are designed for consecutive session schedules; however, these schedules are subject to change due to availability, national holidays, illness and other unforeseen circumstances of the facilitator and/or client(s). Please note that the schedule, information, structure, and benefits described about the support group are subject to change. Group formats, activities, and resources may be adjusted based on the needs of the members, facilitator recommendations, or other factors. We strive to provide the most supportive and effective environment possible and appreciate your understanding and flexibility.

How is coaching different from therapy and counseling? Both coaching and counseling are valuable and can sometimes complement each other, but understanding each modality’s distinct role will help individuals choose the right type of support for their specific needs. Coaching is future- and action-oriented. It focuses on resolving specific present struggles you, the client, have already identified, so that you may achieve your goals. Coaching tends to be more focused, structured, directive, and collaborative than many forms of traditional talk therapy. Unlike licensed therapists, coaches are not required to have specific degrees or certifications and cannot diagnose or treat any particular mental health conditions. Suncatcher Wellness LLC offers coaching services at this time and is unable to diagnose or confirm any disorders or diagnoses. Any health or mental health related comments offered are in no way a substitute for personal consultation with a physician or licensed mental health professional. On the other hand, the focus of many traditional talk therapy and counseling modalities is to explore the past, identify issues, and understand yourself more deeply. Therapists tend to use techniques which involve deep emotional processing of past events and are insight oriented. Therapy tends to focus on exploration and processes, although some forms take a more structured approach. Unlike coaches, therapists are required to have specific degrees and/or certifications and, in some states, can diagnose and treat mental health conditions. Suncatcher Wellness LLC does not currently offer counseling or psychotherapeutic services at this time. To summarize the key differences: -Objective: Coaching is about achieving goals and enhancing overall well-being; Therapy / Counseling is about healing emotional issues, understanding the past, and improving mental health symptoms -Time Orientation: Coaching looks forward, focusing on current and future aspirations; Therapy / Counseling often looks backward, dealing with past and present emotional issues -Approach: Coaching is more focused on a specific issue, structured, and goal-oriented; Therapy / Counseling is more explorative and process-oriented -Client Needs: Coaching serves individuals looking to optimize their potential; Therapy / Counseling typically serves those needing emotional support and psychological healing

What happens if I miss a coaching session? All 60 minute coaching sessions are scheduled at the time of booking. Any scheduling conflicts will be discussed and planned for during the first coaching session. Individual and pair coaching sessions can be rescheduled if the coach is notified within 24 hours of the scheduled session. If a client fails to notify their coach of the need to reschedule within that time frame, the missed session will count as “received” within the 12 total sessions scheduled for the coaching cycle. Coaching sessions cannot be refunded for scheduling conflicts, only rescheduled.

Can I attend coaching or support groups with someone I know? Yes, if you and a loved one are both survivors of the same type of abuse, you may attend support group sessions together (with others who do not already know). In addition, you and a loved one may attend pair coaching sessions together. These are great options for family members (e.g., siblings), close friends, and partners who may share social networks and want to work together to heal. Processing together in this way may also facilitate better understanding of each other and a stronger bond over time. Those who are interested in pair coaching should sign up for their initial consultation call together.

What is the difference between support groups and group therapy? Both support groups and group therapy can be beneficial, but they serve different purposes and are suited to different needs. Support groups are excellent for creating a sense of community and shared understanding, while group therapy is focused on achieving therapeutic goals and addressing mental health issues with professional guidance. Support groups are primarily focused on providing a network of emotional and social support through shared experiences and community building. Members offer each other encouragement and (with permission) advice based on their own experiences. The goal is to create a sense of community and mutual aid among members who are dealing with similar issues, in this case, survivors of familial narcissistic abuse. Support groups are usually less structured than group therapy and follow a flexible agenda where members are encouraged to share and discuss their current experiences. These groups are typically led by a facilitator who may or may not be a licensed mental health professional but who shares similar lived experience to the group members. The facilitator's role is to guide discussions and ensure everyone has a chance to speak, rather than to provide therapy. Suncatcher Wellness LLC offers support group services at this time and is unable to diagnose or confirm any disorders or diagnoses. Any health or mental health related comments offered are in no way a substitute for personal consultation with a physician or licensed mental health professional. On the other hand, group therapy is a form of psychotherapy where a licensed therapist works with a small group of clients to address diagnosed psychological issues. Group members are there to address specific psychological or emotional issues and are often referred by a therapist or doctor. The focus is on clinical treatment and achieving therapeutic goals. Therefore, the aim is therapeutic change, symptom improvement, and emotional healing. Group therapy sessions tend to be more structured and typically follow a specific therapeutic model or approach, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy or interpersonal therapy. Suncatcher Wellness LLC does not offer group therapy services at this time. To summarize the key differences: -Objective: Support groups aim to provide mutual support, build community, and share common experiences; Group therapy aims to provide therapeutic intervention and psychological treatment -Structure: Support groups have a flexible, less formal structure; Group therapy sessions are highly structured and follow specific therapeutic techniques -Participation: Support group members join for mutual support related to a common issue; Group therapy participants join for clinical treatment of psychological conditions

What happens if I miss a support group session? All support group sessions are 90 minutes and run on 10 week cycles and are pre-scheduled at the time of booking and payment (for 10 consecutive weeks). Because of the benefits of the group structure, it is recommended that you only sign up for a support group cycle during which you will be able to attend all 10 weeks. Any scheduling conflicts will be discussed and planned for during the first support group session. Support group sessions cannot be rescheduled. If needed, support group members are each entitled to 1 missed session per 10 week cycle. If the facilitator is notified within 24 hours of the scheduled session that you need to miss, you will be refunded the cost of that session ($10). If a client fails to notify the facilitator of the need to miss a group within that time frame, the missed session will count as “received” within the 10 total sessions scheduled for the support group cycle. Any additional missed support group sessions will not be refunded.

Can I attend more than one support group at a time? At this time, you may not attend more than one support group series simultaneously. You are welcome to join a future 10 week support group series after completion of your first group cycle. Depending on availability, you may be placed further down on the waitlist, if there are new folks who have not attended a support group series before.

Are support groups or coaching sessions recorded? In order to protect clients’ privacy, no contents of the support groups or coaching sessions are recorded including meeting transcripts, audio or video recordings, and chat messages. Support group clients are permitted to keep their own de-identified notes about sessions including any worksheets distributed by Suncatcher Wellness. Coaching clients receive a shared folder with all coaching materials including worksheet and notes (taken by both coach and client).

Can the support group keep meeting without the facilitator after the 10 week cycle? Absolutely! Folks are welcome to keep meeting without the facilitator after the 10th support group session. The facilitator will support this transition process and discuss it with all group members. Recommended community guidelines are provided by Suncatcher Wellness LLC.

What are the community guidelines? At Suncatcher Wellness, our goal is to create a safe, supportive, and inclusive space for all, including those who are members of the LGBT+ and BIPOC communities. To ensure that everyone can participate positively, we ask all support group members to adhere to the following guidelines: (1) Treat all community members with respect, kindness, and dignity. Celebrate diversity and embrace differences in race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, and other aspects of identity. (2) Avoid making assumptions about someone’s identity or experiences. (3) Discrimination, harassment, or hate speech of any kind will not be tolerated. This includes but is not limited to racism, homophobia, transphobia, sexism, ageism, and ableism. (4) Be mindful of language and behavior that may be offensive or triggering to others. (5) Engage in discussions respectfully and constructively. Disagreements should be handled with civility and an open mind. (6) Use “I” statements to express your thoughts and feelings without placing blame or judgment on others. Avoid engaging in personal attacks or inflammatory language. Avoid gatekeeping or invalidating the identities and experiences of others. (7) Avoid giving unsolicited advice. For example, ask: "What are you looking for right now? Just to vent? Ideas and suggestions? Validation? What do you need from the group?" (8) Do not interrupt or speak over others.
